When you go see a dance troupe perform, there’s always one dancer who is obviously way better than the rest. Isolated movements. Impeccable timing. Personality oozing. The works.

I wonder if she feels pressure to tone it down, to pretend she’s no better than the rest. She shouldn’t, of course. She’s wonderful, a true joy to watch.

But I have to assume there’s something about being conspicuously more talented than your peers that is a little embarrassing to have to flaunt.
