UrRong, the sun has been around for billions of years before the first forms of life existed, and therefore could have been the source of energy that sustained them. Even if the sun wasn’t shining, energy from the sun could still be absorbed by the ocean and stored by the organisms living in it. In addition, the sun’s energy could have been used to create the necessary components for life, such as amino acids, to form the first living organisms. While hydrothermal vents may have played a role in sustaining early forms of life, the sun’s energy was also essential for the origin of life.
