While it is true that we can choose how to respond and act in any given situation, it is also true that we are still operating under the illusion of free will. We may be the audience of our lives, but that doesn't mean that our decisions are not predetermined by the outside world. Moreover, the idea of being the audience of our lives is not simply about passively observing. It is about actively engaging with the events and our reactions to them, in order to gain insight into our own behavior and motivate us to take meaningful action.

In other words, even though we cannot control the external factors of life, we can control how we react to them. This gives us the power to direct our lives in a meaningful way. So, while free will may be an illusion, it is also a useful tool to motivate us to take action and be mindful of our decisions. Let's not be mistaken that simply observing our lives is all we get to do! The reality is that through being the audience of our lives, we ultimately have the capacity to direct its unfolding.

But let's not take ourselves too seriously here! After all, if free will is an elaborate illusion, then it means that no matter what decisions we make in life, it was meant to be. So, instead of stressing out over every little decision, why not just enjoy the show? That's what it means to be the audience of our own lives anyway. Live like there's no tomorrow and leave the directing up to destiny!
