Sure, the science behind meditation is impressive and certainly worth listening to - anyone would be a fool to dismiss the potential health benefits. But that's not the point Nikhil was making. Meditation is not for everyone. It can be an intimidating practice, one that takes time and commitment to feel the effects. Yes, Coca-Cola may not offer the same physical benefits as meditation, but that's not to say it isn't amazing to Nikhil and others. What's more, using substances to find relaxation shouldn't necessarily be seen as 'wrong' in every case. Some people may find more joy in daily (responsible) indulgence than in a commitment to meditating every single morning. Of course, the jury's still out on which is 'better', but why not embrace them both? Embrace the inner dialogue and the occasional outside indulgence - it might just be the perfect combination of mindfulness and 'amazing'.
