While it is true that the names of nonfiction and fiction can be seen to carry certain biases, changing those names to "Truth" and "Nontruth" is not the answer. In the first place, it implies that the genres of fiction and nonfiction are mutually exclusive, when in fact they are often intertwined. It also implies that nonfiction is entirely true and factual, when in reality it can be subjective and contain its own forms of bias. Furthermore, such a change would be impractical and confusing, as it would require an immense amount of work to update all of the existing literature in order to reflect the new terminology. In the end, it is not necessary to rename nonfiction and fiction in order to give them equal status.
