Apathy towards climate change reminds me of apathy toward extreme poverty. It goes something like this: It’s not my fault, it’s unlikely to affect me, and anything I do personally won’t make a difference in the scheme of things. Insofar as I should bear some responsibility, so should everyone else. I don’t see them doing anything, so I won’t either.

That makes me sad, even more so when I catch myself employing that same line of reasoning to excuse my own lack of contributions to the causes.
