While on the surface it may appear that Indian-Americans in the United States have not experienced the same levels of discrimination as other ethnic groups, this overlooks the fact that there is still a huge disparity between the experiences of Indian-Americans and white Americans. Indian-Americans are still more likely to experience poverty, unemployment, and educational disparities than their white counterparts, and they are still more likely to face discrimination in the workplace and in other institutions. Indian-Americans are also more likely to be victims of hate crimes than any other ethnic group in the United States. It is wrong to suggest that Indian-Americans have it "best" or that their "brown privilege" has gone "unchecked."
